6월자 스팀 백서 내 맘대로 후기
스팀잇을 가입하고 어느덧 넉 달이 좀 넘게 지나고 있다. 다른 분들과는 다르게 가입과 동시에 찾아온 스태기로 100일 정도를 방황하고 그 무섭다는 늦바람에 최근 완전 미쳐가고 있다.
이쯤에서 내가 빠져들고 있는 스팀잇의 스팀 백서한번쯤은 정독해둬야지 싶어 회사에서 리서치하는척 스팀 백서를 슬며시 프린트해 회사에서 용감하게 정독해보았고 본 포스팅을 통해 기억해두고 싶은 초간단 핵심 포인트를 내 맘대로 정리해본다.

- SBD (스달/스팀달러) 는 무엇의 약자 ?

- 스파(SP) 보유자들은 스팀의 연간 인플레이션의 15%를 가져간다
“SP holders are paid 15% of the yearly inflation.” (pg. 7)
스팀을 파워업을 해서 보유하면 매 3초간 스팀 체인의 블록을 이어가는 증인들에 의해 추가 발행되는 신규 스팀 코인의 15%를 전체 SP 중 내 SP의 지분 만큼 쪼게어 지불 받는다.
- 스달 발행 비율이 스팀 전체 시총의 10%를 초과하면 “스달 → 스팀” 교환 요청 시 지불한 스달 금액보다 적은 스팀을 교환 받거나 아무것도 못받을 수도 있다
“If the amount of SBD debt ever exceeds 10% of the total STEEM market cap, the blockchain will automatically reduce the amount of STEEM generated through conversions to a maximum of 10% of the market cap.” (pg. 9)
- 보팅 파워는 일정하게 하루 24시간을 기준으로 20%가 회복된다
Voting power recharges at a fixed linear rate of 20% per day. (pg. 13)
대략 한시간에 1% 정도 차는 것을 “느낌적인 느낌”으로 알았는데 정확히는 0.83333333% 가 회복되어 하루에 풀보팅은 10번까지 가능하고 매 2시간 24분마다 풀보팅을 할 수 있다.
- 16년 12월에 진행된 16번째 하드포크로 스팀의 연간 인플레이션(신규 스팀발행)은 9.5%가 되었고 매년 -0.5%씩 최종 0.95%가 될 때까지 줄어든다
Starting with the network’s 16th hard fork in December 2016, Steem began creating new tokens at an annual inflation rate of 9.5%. The inflation rate decreases at a rate of 0.01% every 250,000 blocks, or about 0.5% per year. The inflation will continue decreasing at this pace until the overall inflation rate reaches 0.95%. This will take about 20.5 years from the time hard fork 16 went into effect.
Of the new tokens that are generated, 75% go to fund the reward pool, which is split between authors and curators. Another 15% of the new tokens are awarded to holders of SP. The remaining 10% pays for the witnesses to power the blockchain. (pg. 21)
0.95%의 인프레에 도달까지는 20.5년이 걸릴 것으로 전망하니 2037년 정도인 것 같다. 또한, 매순간 발행되는 스팀 코인의 75%는 저자와 큐레이터 보상으로 이어질 리워드풀로 들어가고 나머지 15%와 10%는 각각 SP 보유자와 증인들에게 지급된다.
그렇다면 지금 SP(스팀파워) 보유자에겐 이미 1.35% + α의 이자가 발생하고 있음을 알 수 있다.
(18년도 인프레 9% * 15% SP = 1.35%)
+α는 모든 스팀이 전부 스파로 전환되지 않았으므로 스파 보유자가 적을 수록 나의 SP(스파)보유 이자는 올라간다.
(만약 전체 스팀의 90%가 SP로 파워업 되어있다면 1.35% 나누기 90% = 총 1.5% 의 이자가 SP 보유자에게 지급 됨)
- 안정적인 SBD(스달) 같은 화폐가 상인들의 진입장벽을 낮춰줄 수 있다
Accepting a volatile currency introduces significant accounting overhead, as well. Having a large user base with a stable currency such as SBD lowers the barrier to entry for merchants. (pg. 24)
상인들의 입장에서 가격이 불안정한 화폐는 자칫 회계 비용(손실)으로 이어질 수 있으므로 달러에 묶여(pegged) 안정적인 가격을 유지할 수 있는 스달(SBD)이 필요하다.
- 표현의 자유 / 통제 받지 않는다
Steem is a decentralized network that is operated by witnesses in jurisdictions around the world. All user actions are publicly recorded on the blockchain, and can be publicly verified. This means that there is no single entity that can censor content that is valued by STEEM holders.
Individual websites such as steemit.com may censor content on their particular site, but content published on the blockchain is inherently broadcast traffic and mirrors all around the world may continue to make it available. (pg. 24-25)
탈중앙화 네트워크의 특징상 전세계 어느 곳이든 증인들이 존재 할 수 있고 그 들에 의해 스팀 블록체인은 지속 영위 될 것임으로 한번 쓰여진 데이터는 계속 보전 될 것이고 누구도 그 데이터를 영구히 지울 수 없다. 다만, 스팀 블록체인을 이용한 개별적 서비스인 스팀잇의 경우에는 해당 데이터를 보여주지 않도록 필터링 할 수 있다.
- 악용/어뷰징을 막는 것이 목표가 되어서는 안되고 막을 수도 없다
The Story of the Crab Bucket
A man was walking along the beach and saw another man fishing in the surf with a bait bucket beside him. As he drew closer, he saw that the bait bucket had no lid and had live crabs inside.
“Why don’t you cover your bait bucket so the crabs won’t escape?” he asked.
“You don’t understand,” the fisherman replied, “If there is one crab in the bucket it would surely crawl out very quickly. However, when there are many crabs in the bucket, if one tries to crawl up the side, the others grab hold of it and pull it back down so that it will share the same fate as the rest of them.”
So it is with people. If one tries to do something different, get better grades, improve herself, escape her environment, or dream big dreams, other people will try to drag her back down to share their fate.
Eliminating “abuse” is not possible and shouldn’t be the goal. Even those who are attempting to “abuse” the system are still doing work. Any compensation they get for their successful attempts at abuse or collusion is at least as valuable for the purpose of distributing the currency as the make-work system employed by traditional Bitcoin mining or the collusive mining done via mining pools. All that is necessary is to ensure that abuse isn’t so rampant that it undermines the incentive to do real work in support of the community and its currency.
The goal of building a community currency is to get more “crabs in the bucket.” Going to extreme measures to eliminate all abuse is like attempting to put a lid on the bucket to prevent a few crabs from escaping and comes at the expense of making it harder to add new crabs to the bucket. It is sufficient to make the walls slippery and give the other crabs sufficient power to prevent others from escaping. (pg. 12)
흥미로운 이야기이다. 간단히 요약을 하자면 “게”가 만약 통에 한마리 뿐이라면 충분히 그 통을 빠져나올 수 있을텐데, 통 속이 수 없이 많은 게들로 꽉 차있다면 서로가 서로를 밟고 밖으로 나가기 위해 서로를 끌어내려 결국 한마리도 그 통을 빠져나갈 수 없다는 말이다. 여기서 “통”은 스팀잇 커뮤니티, “게”는 커뮤니티 참여자를 지칭하며 어뷰징을 막는 방법을 통의 뚜껑을 막아버리는 것에 빗대어 설명하고 있다. 통의 뚜껑을 막아 새로운 게들의 유입을 어렵게 하기보단 통 속의 벽을 충분히 미끄럽게 해두고 신규 게가 미끄러져 빠질 수 있게 뚜껑을 열어두면 결국 그 안에 게들이 꽉차 서로가 서로를 탈출치 못하도록 잡아둘 것이다. 이 것이 핵심 전략이다.
대부분의 경우 이미 많은 스티미언들의 포스팅으로 커버되었던 내용이지만 백서를 읽고나니 조금 더 스팀 개발자들의 정신(?)/마인드를 이해할 수 있었고, 특히 “게” 소리를 통해 그 들이 생각하는 현 어뷰징의 주소를 이해 할 수 있어 많이 흥미로웠다. 그럼 이쯤에서 6월자 스팀 백서 정독 후기를 마치기로 한다.
